A 1951 creation by Franco Albini
Offered by Sika-Design, this round ottoman was designed in 1951 by Franco Albini. An Italian architect and designer, Albini combined traditional craftsmanship with a modernist aesthetic. This piece offers a sculptural expression of that approach, with repeated curves forming an openwork volume rather than a solid mass.
The ottoman is handmade from natural Indonesian rattan. Fine bindings, crafted by wicker artisans, join the elements together on a rattan frame. The structure remains visible and plays a direct role in the design: the lines echo one another around the piece, giving rhythm to its round silhouette.
A sculptural accent in the living room
This openwork ottoman fits into a relaxation area, alongside a seating arrangement or in a living room corner. Its material brings warmth, while its rounded outline contrasts with furniture featuring straighter lines.
It also finds a place in a holiday home or hotel lobby, where its wickerwork can be appreciated from different angles.
