Sculptures: orchestrating shapes within the space
A sculpture does not decorate like a flat image: it changes with the viewing angle, captures light differently and has a direct relationship with the volumes around it. Whether it evokes nature, a person or an animal, its presence depends as much on its silhouette as on how it is displayed. The composition therefore begins by balancing impact, breathing room and harmony.
Define the sculpture that will lead the composition
On a console table, bookcase or sideboard, first identify the piece intended to attract attention. Its height, orientation and expression determine which elements can accompany it. A highly detailed shape often needs more open space, while a pared-back silhouette can enter into dialogue with books, a vase or a more discreet object. Avoid giving every element the same visual weight: a clear hierarchy makes the overall arrangement easier to read.
Create variation rather than alignment
To bring several sculptures together, play with differences in height and irregular spacing. A compact group creates a powerful scene, while pieces placed further apart establish rhythm within the room. Also observe the direction of a face, movement or animal figure: turned towards the centre, it draws the composition together; facing outwards, it can guide the eye towards another area. As appearances and shades are specific to each model, refer to their product pages to assess their individual features.
Choose the position from the perspective of the entire room
Step back to examine the sculpture from the entrance, sofa or main walkway. Its base should be proportionate to the supporting surface without interfering with its everyday use. Flosia's experience, built on more than twenty years of sourcing and procurement for retailers and interior design projects, helps to consider these objects in context rather than separately. Finally, a successful arrangement retains an element of silence around the shapes: it is often the empty space that best reveals their presence.
