How to choose a well-proportioned straight sofa?

The straight sofa is easy to integrate, but its proportions must remain consistent with the room and uses. Two models with the same number of seats can have very different widths depending on the armrests, depth and backrest construction.

Determine the number of useful places

A two-seater sofa is suitable for a compact living room or as a complement to other seating. Three seats offer more versatility, while a large model favors reception and relaxation. Compare the useful width of the cushions to the total width: generous armrests increase space without adding space.

Measure location and setback

Mark out the width and depth of the sofa on the floor. Check passages, sockets, radiators and the opening of doors or windows. If the sofa is placed opposite a TV cabinet, adapt the distance to the room. Also maintain a functional space with the coffee table and armchairs.

Choose posture and comfort

A low, deep seat creates a relaxed posture. Greater height and moderate depth make it easier to get up and are better suited to an upright position. Examine the firmness, back support, cushions and arm height based on time spent on the sofa.

Select a suitable covering

Textured fabrics, velvet, terry, leather and synthetic coverings do not have the same resistance or the same maintenance. A light shade visually enlarges the space but may require more care. Check the composition, cleaning instructions and availability of the chosen color.

Control access and delivery

Measure all openings to the living room, including corners and stairwell. Compare these measurements to the dimensions of the packages and identify the removable elements. Check the variant, leg assembly, delivery time and conditions before confirming the order.
