How do you choose a U-shaped sofa that suits your living room?
A U-shaped sofa creates a spacious relaxation area and naturally defines a large room. However, its U-shaped layout or configuration with several returns requires precise measurements to keep walkways and openings clear and maintain the living room's visual balance.
Measure the entire footprint
Measure the total width, the depth of the main section and that of each chaise longue. Mark out the shape on the floor with tape, then check access to doors, windows, radiators and nearby furniture. Remember to allow sufficient clearance in front of the coffee table.
Choose the configuration and seating capacity
A symmetrical arrangement encourages conversation, while a longer return creates a dedicated relaxation area. Check whether the sections are reversible, modular or fixed. The stated seating capacity is no substitute for checking the usable width of each seat.
Compare comfort and seat depth

For a left-hand or right-hand version, check the manufacturer's diagram and the viewpoint used before choosing.
