How to choose a bedside table suited to your bed and your habits?

A bedside table must remain accessible from the bed while preserving circulation in the room. Its height, width and storage are chosen according to the mattress, the objects used in the evening and the space available on each side.

Align the tray with the bedding

Measure the total height of the bed base and the mattress. A tray near the top of the mattress makes it easy to grab a drink, phone, or book. A gap is still possible depending on your preferences, but avoid furniture that requires you to bend over a lot.

Check width and depth

Measure the space between the bed, the wall, a door or a cupboard. Also check the complete opening of a drawer. In a small bedroom, a narrow table, suspended or with a light base, visually frees up the floor and facilitates passage.

Choose between drawer, niche and open top

The drawer hides small objects, the niche keeps books accessible and an open model appears lighter. If you are planning a lamp, an alarm clock or a charger, check the actual usable surface area and the proximity of an electrical outlet.

Compose with the style of the room

It is not necessary to match the table exactly to the bed. A complementary finish can give relief to the room. Wood, metal, glass or stone do not offer the same feel, the same weight or the same maintenance needs.

Check assembly and delivery

Check the dimensions, possible opening direction, weight and the chosen variant. Consult the assembly, the number of packages and the announced delivery time. In a narrow space, measure the path to the chamber before ordering.
