Parasol bases: what supports a well-planned installation?
Although unassuming at first glance, the parasol base determines the placement of the entire set. It occupies floor space, intersects with walkways and contributes to the terrace's visual balance. The central question is therefore simple: how do you select a base suited to the parasol and its location without inferring compatibility from appearance alone?
What must the base be compatible with?
Start by identifying the specifications listed for the relevant parasol, particularly the type of installation and compatibility guidance. Depending on the model, the pole's diameter or shape, assembly components and conditions of use may vary. Consult the product pages for both the base and parasol together with the manufacturer's instructions; if information is missing, do not assume that similar dimensions are sufficient.
The context of use also matters. A parasol positioned in the centre of a table requires a different configuration from a model placed beside an outdoor lounge set. Follow the instructions precisely for assembly, fixing, handling and precautions relating to weather conditions. A base must not be used for any purpose other than that specified.
Where can it fit without causing an obstruction?
Mark out the footprint of the base and the open parasol on the ground. Preserve routes to doors, seats and service areas. Beneath a table, make sure the intended configuration leaves enough legroom; beside a sofa, avoid creating a point that is difficult to walk around.
Also examine the surface on which the set will stand and apply the recommendations for the model. A narrow terrace requires particularly precise placement, while in a large space the parasol must be visually connected to the furniture group it accompanies. A temporary outline on the ground helps assess the footprint before installation.
How can stability and visual discretion be combined?
Stability cannot be assessed from colour, silhouette or an impression of weight: rely exclusively on the stated compatibility information and instructions. In decorative terms, a base close to the colour of the flooring is more discreet, while a deliberate contrast can emphasise the parasol's structure. However, always prioritise the intended use.
Transport for this type of piece depends in particular on its weight, volume and destination. Accordingly, Flosia offers free standard delivery within the European Union, excluding islands and overseas territories, and selects the transport method based on these factors. Ultimately, a well-considered base does not seek to disappear at all costs: it fits into the terrace with restraint and supports an installation completed in accordance with the instructions.
