List of products by brand et al. (Metalmobil)
Since 1956, Et al. — formerly Metalmobil — has designed seating in Italy for places where people come together. Chairs, armchairs, lounge chairs, sofas and stools combine contract expertise, ergonomics and a choice of configurations. The selection notably includes Myra, Nassau, Uni, Uni-Ka, Classy, Net and Nomad to define dining, reception, meeting or relaxation areas, with consistency designed for communal use.
A café, a lobby, a meeting room: in these spaces, seating must impress at first glance and then withstand repeated use. Et al. works precisely on this collective scale. Founded in 1956 under the name Metalmobil, the company from Italy’s Marche region adopted its current name in 2019, continuing its industrial heritage.
A contract culture, not transplanted home décor
The brand primarily designs chairs and tables for public gathering places. Its membership of the Italian IFI group, a specialist in furnishings and technologies for Food & Beverage, places it close to the requirements of restaurants and hospitality. Durability in use, comfort, visual lightness and the ability to develop a single family in multiple ways guide the design process.
Choosing a posture and configuration
In the active range, Myra spans armchairs, lounge chairs and stools. Uni and Uni-Ka offer multiple silhouettes, bases and heights; Classy comes as a chair, armchair and bar stool. The Nassau, Net, Punto, Flint and To-Kyo families open up other possibilities for arranging a dining room, waiting area or conversation space. Finally, Nomad sofas shift the focus towards reception and relaxation.
This family-based approach makes it easier to create a consistent arrangement without imposing the same posture everywhere. Chairs can be placed around a table, armchairs installed in a more enveloping area, and the same design language then repeated at counter height.
- Dining: consider size, possible stackability and circulation between tables, depending on the product.
- Reception: combine lounge chairs, armchairs and sofas to create a flexible waiting area.
- Counter: check the seat height and whether there is a backrest before choosing a stool.
From woven wire to injection moulding
Et al.’s identity also lies in the coexistence of different processes. Its inaugural 001 armchair combines steel with handwoven wire, while other pieces use steel, injection-moulded polypropylene or upholstery. The brand collaborates with designers such as Luca Nichetto and Philippe Nigro. This technical diversity calls for comparing each variant — finish, upholstery, armrests and indoor or outdoor use — rather than applying one characteristic to the entire collection.
