At SLIDE, a piece of furniture does more than occupy space: it changes its visual temperature. A pop curve, bold shade or diffused light is enough to set the scene. Founded in 2002 by Giò Colonna Romano, the brand develops and produces furniture and lighting systems in plastic materials in Buccinasco, near Milan.

Rotational moulding as an alphabet

Experimentation, prototyping, engineering, rotational moulding, finishing and logistics are integrated at the Milan site. The process makes it possible to create hollow, continuous and relatively lightweight volumes without sacrificing generous proportions. The low-density linear polyethylene used is described by the brand as fully recyclable; this does not mean that every product is made from recycled material. The Second Life programme is introducing it gradually, initially in outdoor collections.

This technique explains the consistency of objects that are nevertheless very different. The Low Lita low armchair, Blos rocking chair and Chubby lounge chair cultivate soft, ample silhouettes. Kami translates origami folds into a family of seating, while Mara evokes weaving in the plastic texture of its structure. Here, the effect is not that of genuine leather, but of a pattern integrated into the material.

Creating a focal point

  • Graphic setting: the Amore bench and Queen of Love family embrace monumental lettering and Baroque references.
  • Flexible lounge: armchairs, sofas, poufs and coffee tables make it possible to create different seating levels.
  • High-level area: Koncord, Drink, Voilà and the Hoplà, Peak and X2 tables structure bars and reception areas.
  • Illuminated accent: Lempi Light, illuminated Gear, the Cactus floor lamp and the illuminated Mara pouf combine function and atmosphere.

From colour to project

SLIDE collaborates with renowned designers including Paola Navone, Karim Rashid, Marcel Wanders and Marc Sadler. Their design language remains recognisable while entering a shared grammar of colourful volumes. The active selection ranges from Amélie and Gloria chairs to Ottocento tables, Gear planters and Kami Yon or Mara sofas.
