Madame chair

Created in 1951 by Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel, the Madame armchair belongs to the ICONS collection by Sika-Design. Its enveloping shell reflects the experimental approach of the two designers, who explored the material's possibilities to achieve flowing, continuous forms.

An expressive shell design

The name Madame refers to the soft, feminine forms of this shell, as described in the model's official presentation. This identity is expressed in the curves that surround the seat and give the armchair its recognisable silhouette.

Handcrafted by skilled wicker artisans, Madame is made from natural Indonesian rattan. The craftsmanship highlights the frame's design: the bent lines and bindings contribute as much to its construction as to its visual expression.

A welcoming presence indoors

In a living room or relaxation area, this armchair can stand alone or complement a sofa with more understated lines. Seat and back cushions are available depending on the configuration. They complement the rattan shell while allowing the textiles to be coordinated with the interior.
