The curves of a bistro armchair
Offered by Sika-Design, the Bistro armchair was designed by Franco Albini and Franca Helg in the 1950s. It belongs to a series of bistro furniture in which curved lines and construction details play a central role.
Its frame is shaped by hand from Indonesian rattan by skilled basket weavers. The woven seat and backrest use ArtFibre, a UV-resistant synthetic polyethylene fibre. This combination of materials gives the seat flexibility, while the curved armrests provide support and extend the flowing lines of the frame.
A seat for the table
This dining armchair suits brasseries, cafés and restaurants as well as home interiors. Its armrests distinguish it from an armless chair and frame the seated position at the table.
Intended for indoor use, it can also be used on a covered terrace, protected from moisture. If it becomes damp, it must be allowed to dry completely: suitability for outdoor use does not mean permanent exposure to the elements.
