Presented by Versmissen, this heddle pulley comes from the Lega community in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Dating from the mid-20th century, it is made from wood and includes textile thread. Its stylised form is enhanced by engravings and distinctive patterns, giving this functional object a strong sculptural presence.

This pulley was used in the weaving process on a loom. Its patina indicates repeated use and preserves traces of its original function.
