AAA1533 Lega mask

A white Lega mask with a refined face

Offered by Versmissen, this wooden Lega mask originates from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and dates from the mid-20th century. Its predominantly white surface displays signs of wear as well as natural imperfections in the wood. These visible marks complement the understated contours of the face and contribute to the piece's distinctive appearance.

The carved face features half-closed eyes, pierced nostrils and a slender mouth. Several small holes are also positioned around the edges of the mask. They were probably intended to allow the mask to be attached or worn. Classified as wall decoration, this model measures 11 x 22 x 26 cm. It is precisely identified by the reference AAA1533.
