Kpeliyee Bronze Mask

This kpeliyee mask is an anthropomorphic mask used by the Lobi people of West Africa. It is made of brass and measures 7x14.5x31 cm. The kpeliyee mask is used during funeral ceremonies to force the spirit of the deceased to leave their home. It is worn by men, who are considered to be intermediaries between the living and the dead. This bronze colored mask is unique.
