These kneeling female figures, like this one, stood on the altars of Dogon houses, thus receiving sacrificial offerings. They performed sacred ritual functions, contributing to girls' education and funeral ceremonies. This unique piece of 20x19x74 cm comes from Mali and dates from the middle of the 20th century.
