Namji Fertility Doll Sculpture

This sculpture features a highly stylized and geometric human form. His small, proportionally incised head has a striking facial expression. The torso is decorated with multiple rows of red and blue beads, to which cowries are attached. One of the pegs is decorated with multi-colored beads. This type of doll was offered to young Namji girls as a toy, but also to prepare them for their future role as mothers. This unique piece of 6x8x17 cm comes from Cameroon in the middle of the 20th century.
