Figured Ancestor Wall Art

This exceptional wall panel, originally from the Pende tribe in DR Congo, depicts in relief an imposing male figure wearing a hat, resting on a triangular geometric background. Measuring 13.5x29x86 cm and crafted from natural wood, it represents an ancestor figure, a symbol of prestige and commemoration of the clan leader. Traditionally placed at the entrance to the chef's cabin, this 20th century decorative panel bears witness to the refined art and cultural wealth of the Pende people.
