The Sénoufo female sculpture AAA1137 offered by Versmissen belongs to an ancestral couple of the Sénoufo people of Côte d’Ivoire. Kept in a sanctuary, this figure was used during specific ceremonies, particularly funeral processions. It represents the Ancestor Mother and combines several symbolic elements. Its conical breasts evoke ideal femininity, while its long arms portray it as a powerful guardian within this tradition.

The sculpture is also distinguished by its detailed hairstyle and the visible body markings on the figure. These features give structure to the figure and express both strength and grace. Crafted from wood in the 20th century, this work is presented as a unique piece.
