This Dyonyeni figurine originates from the Bambara tribe of Mali. Dating from the mid-20th century, it is offered by Versmissen under reference AAA119. This unique piece is carved from natural-colored wood and measures 19 x 18 x 68,5 cm. It is associated with the southern Dyo society and the Kwore society.

For the Bambara, the maternal figure is presented as the embodiment of Faro, goddess of water and mother of all humanity.
