Byeri sculpture

The Fang, a Bantu people in Central Africa, occupy a vast and diverse territory, which has given rise to numerous artistic styles. These figures were used to protect the relics of ancestors, which were often kept in wooden containers. The figures were also consulted for help and protection from ancestors. It has a dimension of 16x15.5x48 cm and is made entirely of wood. It is a unique piece from Gabon and dated from the middle of the 20th century.
