Morning calls for a sun lounger; lunch, a table that extends; the end of the day, a lantern. Les Jardins considers outdoor living through each of these moments, with furniture, shade solutions and expertise also developed around self-powered solar lighting.

Arranging the terrace by use

The history of the French company began in 1991 with Denis Marcel and parasols inspired by Madagascar. Designer Claude Robin joined the project early on, which then developed around teak furniture. Today, design is stated to take place in France, at the Aix-en-Provence headquarters; this does not mean that the furniture is manufactured in France.

The active selection makes it possible to arrange several settings. Amaka brings together an extending table, chairs, armchairs and sun loungers. Tekura covers dining, with rectangular, round, square or extending tables, benches and seating, followed by relaxation with sofas, armchairs and coffee tables. Copenhague offers coffee tables, an Adirondack chair, chairs and an extending table. The Valteck, Skaal and Yolo sun loungers complete relaxation areas, while aluminium or teak parasols provide the necessary shade.

The grey signature of Duratek®

On the relevant products, the teak receives the exclusive Duratek® process: after mechanical stripping, six treatment coats give it a recognisable grey finish. This treatment makes maintenance easier but does not eliminate it; the brand recommends cleaning with soapy water. Depending on the model, the wood is combined with aluminium, Batyline, HPL, ceramic or other technical textiles.

  • For entertaining: measure the table when closed and open, then allow space behind the seats.
  • For relaxing: choose between a low armchair, sofa, daybed and sun lounger.
  • To control the shade: adapt the parasol size, base and position to the space actually available.

When light extends the evening

Les Jardins launched its solar collection in 2013, after nearly three stated years of research and development. The modules differ by product: power, detection, operating modes and protection rating should therefore not be assumed to be identical. In the range shown, the Skaal lanterns illustrate this other facet of the company. They add a portable, decorative point of light without obscuring the priority: creating a consistent, comfortable outdoor space suited to your daily rhythm.
